Sec 5 1st Round

On the first day of football practice, Canandaigua started on the road to defense of its Section 5 Championship Title.

The team, which advanced to the state playoffs in 2007, has lost 17 of 22 starters.

Coach Dave Neiman said this is the most starters he has ever lost as head coach.

He spent the first day of practice evaluating players for for fitness and skill levels to determine what might need to added into the team's workouts.

What A Beautiful Day For Football!

The Annual Red & White game was played this past Saturday.

A crowd of about 200 football parents and Hardcore CA Football Fans gathered at Evans Field on this sunny Saturday morning for the annual event.

Coming off a week of "3 a days" practice everyone was excited to see what the kids had been up to. Well, they were not disappointed.

On the next possession the White's took the ball and marched down the field for the first touchdown of the day when
Jake Smith caught a touchdown pass in the end zone. The Red's came back to tie the game on the next possession and the game was on!

The score was tied 14-14 by the end of the scrimmage and one thing became evident to all in attendance; Canandaigua, despite having lost so may starters, is going to be good this year!

After loosing 17 of their 22 man Sec 5 Championship starting lineup to graduation the Braves have their work cut out for them. Saturday's Red & White scrimmage was the first "sneak peek" at what will be a very good football team this year.

As someone in the crowed said; "No stars, just talent”.

Next Saturday, the Braves will travel to Gates Chili at 10am for a full squad scrimmage.

Both the Red & White squads looked good! The Red squad had the ball to start the day. The White's held them to a punt on the first possession.
